Answering ‘What Is The Average Penis Size?’

Men fight with misconceptions regarding what is the average penis size. The general notion is that average penis size is 6 inches or longer. This is a myth. We have blown the notion of penis size into something that is larger and more important than it really should be.

So, What is the Average Penis Size, You Ask?

Average penis size, when taking into account most studies, is 5.1-5.9 inches. There are some outlying studies that claim otherwise, but most studies have found results within this range. Also, the median penis size is lower than this size gap. This means that most penises are actually smaller than what is considered the average penis size.

The Eiffel Tower: Making me feel inadequate about their penis size.

Everyday men are told that a bigger penis is a better penis.

Does Size Matter?

Yes. But this does not mean that bigger is necessarily better. In fact, for some women, a bigger penis is a nuisance! It is hard for men to believe this, given the prevailing myth about the benefits of a bigger penis, but it is true. Vaginas vary in size just as penises do, meaning that some women have small vaginas that can’t take a large penis or are made uncomfortable by a large penis.

And the sexual preference towards penis size varies with different women. This means that average penis size doesn’t even matter so much. It is the particular sexual arrangements eked between sexual partners that matters most. In other words, it’s not the size that matters but how you use it and who with.

Why do we Think Penis Size Matters So Much?

This is an interesting question that cannot be answered easily. But, suffice it to say that penis size has become linked with masculinity in modern society. When men measure each other up, they often literally do so with the size of their penis.

There is no rational reason as to why humans value particular forms. A way to think about the idea of bigger is better when regards to penis size is to think about female body size. The unrealistic idea the female body type should be tall, thin and large breasted is not about what is ‘good’ or even ‘sex.’ During a particular place and time this idea was exploded and now is seen as a norm. But it is neither realistic nor right.

We have created a myth surrounded penis size, virility, power and self worth. It is a flawed myth and this myth has lead to some serious problems.

Small Penis Syndrome (SPS)

Confusion surrounding what is the average penis size has led many men to feel terribly insecure about their penis. The need for a large penis, as dictated by societies’ unrealistic expectations for penis size, is coupled with the distorted perspective men have on their own penis due to standpoint. Men look down at their penis, which makes it look smaller.

Most men think their penis is smaller than it actually is and most men think a penis should be larger than the average penis size. Men who suffer from insecurities about their penis size are said to have Small Penis Syndrome.

There are only two ways to fight SPS: changing penis size or changing ones perspective on average penis size. As long as the question of ‘what is the average penis size?‘ is answered incorrectly, men will have a difficult time feeling good about themselves.
