Chaz Bono’s Celebrity Sex Change: Welcome to Penistown

We would like to take the opportunity to congratulate Chastity “Chaz” Bono (once daughter, now son of Cher and Sonny Bono) on the recent acquisition of a penis. The 40-year-old transgendered activist, writer, actor, musician recently made the decision to go all the way and transition into a full-on penis-equipped dude. This is what Chaz’s spokesman had to say in a written statement:

“Chaz, after many years of consideration, has made the courageous decision to honor his true identity.”
“He is proud of his decision and grateful for the support and respect that has already been shown by his loved ones. It is Chaz’s hope that his choice to transition will open the hearts and minds of the public regarding this issue, just as his “coming out” did nearly 20 years ago.”

Chaz came out as a lesbian in 1995, and this recent announcement should provide much-needed visibility and publicity for the trans community. Plus, we think everyone has the right to have a penis if they want. This is the new millennium after all! If we can put a man on the moon, we can put a dick on a woman, can’t we?

Penile Empowerment

Apparently, from one-quarter to one-half percent of Americans are transgendered, which is to say they identify as a different gender than the one they were born with. However, very few of these folks actually choose to go under the knife to have their sex organs modified. The process of acquiring a penis is a long one, and often involves multiple surgeries. Usually the clitoris is enlarged with hormones and through grafts from the arm, thigh, or belly, a penis is fashioned. It doesn’t end up being exactly the same as a run-of-the-mill God-given wang, but many people find the makeshift manhood does the trick quite nicely.

Some other famous transgendered celebs include Walter/Wendy Carlos, the synthesizer pioneer and composer of several Stanley Kubrick soundtracks, and Larry/Lana Wachowski, the director of the Matrix movies—although the latter is still rumored.
