New studies show that 70% of female short-nosed fruit bats go down on their hubbies during copulation. Not only that, but apparently, “a positive relationship exists between the length of time that the female licked the male’s penis during copulation and the duration of copulation.” Fortunately for the species, the longer the mating goes on, the higher the rate of fertilization. This means that bat blowjobs are essential to successful bat reproduction. As human men, the fact that fellatio gets males of a given species in the mood for love is hardly news. But this is huge news for the bat population. Concrete proof that bat fellatio is positive for the species at large will be great discursive ammo for any male bat who can’t convince his girl to go downstairs. As if we needed another reason to be jealous of Bruce Wayne.
